Install

Install the store application

The store application runs on the device at the counter. This page offers the file that is published today, states exactly what your device does with it, and gives you the checksum to hold it against. Nothing here installs without your device asking you first.

This site build has no release-feed key, so the published files cannot be listed. No download is offered until the feed answers, so that a button here can never point at a file nobody published.

The tablet at the counter

Android tablet

The store application for an Android tablet: the live order board, kitchen and receipt printing, and the delivery status as the courier works the order.

The feed is not answering, so the published file cannot be shown.

  1. Press Install on this device and open the downloaded file. Android asks once whether the app that downloaded it may install apps — that is the only permission step, and adding anything to a home screen is not part of it.
  2. Sign in with the store's Carter Me staff credentials.
  3. On the Store screen, bind the tablet to its store, so every store control reads and writes that store and no other.
  4. On Printers, add the network printer's address on port 9100 and send a test print. Keep the printed ticket: it proves the whole chain from the app to the paper.

Upgrading a build published before 29 September 2026: Android will not install over an app signed with a different key, so uninstall the old one first and sign in again afterwards.

The counter PC

Windows computer

The same application as a desktop program, with the printers reached directly on the local network on port 9100. It installs for the current user only, so it asks for no administrator password.

The feed is not answering, so the published file cannot be shown.

  1. Press Install on this device. The published file is fetched, joined where it is split, and checked against the published SHA-256 before anything is saved.
  2. Open the saved installer. Windows shows an unknown publisher until the installer carries a code-signing certificate: choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Sign in, then add the printer's address on port 9100 and send a test print.

Rolling out to several computers: run the saved installer with /S for a silent install.

iPad and other devices

iPad

No build is published for the iPad, so this page does not offer one. A browser cannot install an app on iOS at all — Safari can only add a web page to the home screen.

The feed is not answering, so the published file cannot be shown.

  1. There is nothing to download for an iPad today. The release feed this page reads carries the Android tablet and Windows today.
  2. Ordering, the business portal and order tracking are web pages. They need no installation and work in the browser as they are.

Nothing to install here — see the notes below for what runs in a browser.

What a browser can and cannot do

A web page cannot install a program on your device, and this one does not pretend to. What it does is hand over the published file, and the operating system takes it from there:

  • An Android tablet opens the file and asks once whether the app that downloaded it may install apps. The result is a normal app, opened from the apps list — no browser bar, and no step where anything is added to a home screen.
  • A Windows computer saves the installer, waits for you to open it, and shows an unknown publisher until the installer carries a code-signing certificate.
  • An iPad cannot install this application at all. There is no published build for it, and a pop-up claiming otherwise would be lying to you — so none is shown.

Check what you downloaded

Every release is published with its SHA-256. The checksum shown beside each file above is read from the same release feed the application updates from, so it always describes the file you are about to open. Where a file is published in parts, this page fetches the parts, joins them and checks the result before saving anything; a file that does not match is not saved.

To check a saved file yourself, run one of these on the machine holding it:

Get-FileHash .\<the file you saved> -Algorithm SHA256

shasum -a 256 <the file you saved>

A digest that does not match the one on this page means the file is not the one that was published. Delete it and download again.

Updates

The application checks the same release feed when it starts. When a newer version is published it is offered in the app, with what changed, and the version you are running is always the one that came from the shell rather than a number written into a screen. There is no separate updater to download and nothing to reinstall by hand.

If installation fails

Send the file name, the version, and the message your device showed to [email protected] and we will work it out from there.
